Surf on the south coast of Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka in well known for its legendary surfing. The waves here are mellow, there is plenty of breaks around and spots are easily accessible. Whatever your surfing level, you will find great waves all along the south coast.
Here on the south coast of Sri Lanka the best balance of calm winds and good swell happens between November and April. However, any day of the year can be a great day to surf around Ahangama.
Here in Ahangama, where our villa is located, you are never far away from a good surf spot. The Rock, Lazy Left, Plantations, Rams, Kabalana Beach, Weligama Bay are only a short walk or a quick tuk tuk drive away.
At LUST Yoga & Surf Villa we can help you organise surf lessons, board rental and transport to the best surf spots around. Ask us about tips on where to go, what time of the day is best and what’s the surf forecast saying. We all love surfing and we would love to share our passion with you!
Combine surfing and yoga for the best experience during your stay in Sri Lanka. Join our daily yoga classes at 7.30 and indulge yourself in a healthy post-surf vegan breakfast in our beautiful garden. We are open for guest from outside- contact us to inquire about details.
Surf Down the Road
Not far from the villa there are a couple of good surf spots. Just 5 minutes walking down the road you'll find Devil's Rock, a.k.a Sion. It's a reef break more suited for intermediates and advanced surfers due to the shallow reef and rocks. It has a great A-frame as well as a left and right peaks.
Cycle & Surf
We have a couple of push bikes equipped with surf racks that are the perfect companion for a little surf trip along the coast. Just couple of minutes of cycling will get you to different surf spots in our area: Lazy Left and Lazy Right, Plantations, Coconuts, Gas Station, Sticks, Marshmallows and Kabalana.
Explore the Coastline
Take a tuk tuk, stack your surfboards on the roof and embark on an adventure to the more remote parts of the south coast. Go to Hikkaduwa for some steep drops and walling waves, or to Hiriketiya to learn surfing in one of the most picturesque bays in Sri Lanka.
